Grosbeak, slip cast in red stoneware and decorated in brown slip with ebony eyes, six inches long.
The grosbeak is an early bird sculpture designed before the decorating colors were developed. Few have been produced but we have a lovely vintage grosbeak done in brown slip which is very inspirational, so I decided to try a few myself but mine look nothing like its inspiration.
This is the way the creative design process works. These two grosbeaks are like raw sketches. They are one of a kind, not a decal, and off beat, having their own charm appealing to the individualist at heart
