The Road Less Travelled
You may be accustomed to finding our traditional line, priced to be affordable to the middle class. We would love to be making it and also to be teaching others how to make our line but, alas, we do not currently have a production and training studio. To raise funds for a studio we are putting our vintage collection of rare, one of a kind and original design prototypes on the market. To learn more, follow our blog, Andersen Studio Evolution Diaries. We love this process and are committed to seeing it continue for the benefit of future makers.
This is a beautiful example of the verdigris variegated glaze The Melon Vase is designed by Weston Neal Andersen, who also designed the body and glaze recipes which are made in our studio from raw materials. The verdigris glaze is variegated.each vase being an original variation on the natural variegated pattern created by the heating process interacting with the glaze chemistry. The Melon vase is a simple but sumptuous design, the form has the fullness of a ripe fruit, with a small opening to display a single stem. The Small Melon Vase is four and a half inches in diameter and five and a half inches tall.Pictures show the Small Melon Vase grouped with other vases with variegated glazes, also made by Andersen Design
