The Road Less Travelled
You may be accustomed to finding our traditional line, priced to be affordable to the middle class. We would love to be making it and also to be teaching others how to make our line but, alas, we do not currently have a production and training studio. To raise funds for a studio we are putting our vintage collection of rare, one of a kind and original design prototypes on the market. To learn more, follow our blog, Andersen Studio Evolution Diaries. We love this process and are committed to seeing it continue for the benefit of future makers.
This is an original prototype of the classic Andersen straight mug designed by Weston in blue stripes painted by Brenda, The hand written signature on the bottom says only "Andersen Maine" identifying that it was created before the concept of Andersen Design as a brand was fully realized, circa early fifties.3 inches tall, 2.75 inches in diameter. Slip cast in white stoneware, glazed in original white claze created by Weston and decorated in blue ceramic decorating color, also created by Weston. The mug in the upper left corner has a skip, adding to its charm, Usually a skip just happens but an artist could attempt to develop the ability to skip at will. Andersen Design is embedded into the mold on the bottom of the mugs.3 inches tall 2.5 inches diameter
